NECSC initiatives in this area are intended to identify and resolve the institutional barriers that prevent use of energy-efficient and renewable energy (EE&RE) technologies, materials and management practices in community development and redevelopment projects. This includes initiatives to develop innovative EE&RE public policies, builder incentives, public-private partnership arrangements, energy-efficient zoning and building codes, public finance and municipal energy management programs. In pursuing this research, NECSC collaborates with government officials and university researchers but also strives to engage stakeholders across the real estate transaction chain. These include: developers, builders, suppliers, financiers, brokers and buyers, as well as other relevant environmental and community advocates.
