Education - The NECSC will be exploring potential collaboration with one or more universities interested in developing a graduate-level curriculum in energy- and resource-efficient community development. The curriculum would be offered as a career development track within an existing or newly established Master’s Program in Public Policy and Administration, Urban and Regional Planning, Civil and Environmental Engineering, or Real Estate Finance and Development. Versions of these degree programs will be tailored for in-service professionals and practitioners as well as traditional full-time students. Internship and research assistant opportunities will also link higher education to the NECSC and its programs. Interested parties are encouraged to contact the NECSC office at 619-476-5323.
Training - Initially, NECSC training courses will be designed for delivery at professional trade conferences and expos and on-site in development agency or company offices. These courses will also be offered at the permanent NECSC facility in Chula Vista (see Site & Facilities) and will also be offered through the extension divisions of San Diego State University and the University of California at San Diego. The NECSC will also produce and make available a professional "Sustainable Community Energy Design and Development" (SCEDD) certificate course and a "Train-the-Trainer" course. Additionally, web-based versions of both courses will be broadcast to audiences outside of the San Diego region and, once adapted and translated, web-cast to Global Energy Network affiliates around the world
